Michael Sertic
PATENT ATTORNEY
Michael Sertic has more than 9 years of experience as a patent attorney drafting and prosecuting applications for United States and foreign filings. Drawing on his background in small molecule pharmaceutical chemistry he drafted and prosecuted patents to the drug deutetrabenazine (AUSTEDO®) which is approved for treatment of the movement disorders Huntington’s chorea and tardive dyskinesia. His practice also includes assessing patentability, freedom to operate analysis, due diligence investigation and presentation, and drug patent life cycle management to maximize regulatory exclusivity.
EDUCATION
Mr. Sertic earned his JD from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH (2007), where he served as a Law Review editor and a student legal writing tutor. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California at San Diego (2004) where he was a chemistry research assistant for K.C. Nicolaou at The Scripps Research Institute.
